George Bell Rutherford, Cowshill Leek Show 2009

Over Christmas, whilst visiting my parents I learnt of the death of George Bell Rutherford, aged 87.

I photographed George for the Cowshill Village Hall centenary project in 2009. A true character of Weardale, George was a champion Cumberland Wrestler, a member of Lanehead cricket team and a fierce opponent to beat at the Leek Club!
