I’m getting there. I decided after much deliberation to use tin snips on the ends of the spent shotgun cartridges and then fold over since my first attempt resulted in very sharp edged buttons. So…..I’ve cut off the plastic outer with scissors, knocked out the primer (which later forms the button centre) before drilling out …

Finally…..small progress… Using the proofs from the printers I have rustled up a sample book – yay! Leather bound, 96 pages, 29 photographs, 12 game recipes and a button closure made out of spent shotgun cartridges. I’m doing 75 copies of this first edition, each one hand bound.
Shoot! was selected following an international open call for work for The Social: Encountering Photography, an international celebration of photography, organised by North East Photography Network and shown in different venues across the North East during autumn 2013. Here’s some shots of the installation, at Durham Art Gallery until January 12th 2014.
